A cowboy moves directly toward the viewer, head lowered, shoulders weighted by unseen pressure. Both hands extend forward, each holding a rope that trails backward into space—suggesting a line that does not end behind him, but continues to pull through memory, distance, and consequence.
The figure does not stop. He advances through contrast and shadow, built in heavy tonal layering that emphasizes both form and erosion. The clarity of the body is met with the ambiguity of what the rope connects to—something off-frame, unresolved, still active.
