110 — The Fight Within
The determination to keep fighting when the struggle is invisible to others.
This piece was created for 110 Fitness, a place built around the belief that the fight against Parkinson’s is about more than
what the outside world can see.
Parkinson’s can bring visible challenges—tremors, changes in movement, loss of balance, and the need for a wheelchair or
other assistance. But some of the hardest battles happen somewhere no one else can see: inside the mind. The frustration.
The fear. The exhaustion. The determination to keep going when your own body is fighting against you.
That is what The Fight Within represents. It is not simply a drawing about Parkinson’s. It is about the human fight that
continues behind the eyes—the decision, sometimes made over and over again, to stand back up, keep moving, and
refuse to surrender.
The work is intentionally built from chaos. There is no erasing, no retreat, and no attempt to make every line perfect. The
lines collide, overlap, disappear, and re-emerge—much like the thoughts and emotions that can exist inside a person who
is fighting a battle others may never fully understand.
When I draw, I don't try to control every line. I let the chaos become part of the image. I use the entire pencil tip, changing
pressure and direction, allowing negative space to speak as loudly as the marks themselves. Somewhere between the
beauty and the disorder, the picture comes to life.
For me, that is where art becomes honest. Beauty and chaos collide, and something real appears in the middle.
